5 Things to Do on a Rainy Day in Monol

Letting loose after long hours of studying or working is necessary for a balanced living. Here in Monol, students have the option to go out after class until 9 pm (except if student has penalty, oops!). However, with Baguio’s rainy season, going out is quite a bit of a hassle for students. Fortunately, “Live and Learn” resonates what we live up to that is why even if you stay just inside the academy, there are a lot of fun activities that you could enjoy:

  1. Sit and Talk in the Sauna

Going to sauna especially during this season would be one of the best resorts to warm your body up. Aside from recreational and social, there are other innumerable benefits of going to this heat room–it relaxes muscles, flushes toxins, clears skins, induces deeper sleep, and even burn calories! There are separate saunas for men and women situated at B5 sandwiching the cafe counter. Open every day.

  1. Go for the Game Ball

Are you the sporty type? You can tag your friends along to play billiards or table tennis! Located at the rooftop, students are allowed to play here from 5 pm onwards to avoid disruption of classes.

  1. Hit the Gym

If your daily routine revolves around sitting in class for hours, going to the dining hall and taking rest in your room for the remainder time, this season might be a good opportunity to break the vapid routine. The Physical Activity Guidelines recommend doing an average of 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activities per week. This means exercising for about 30 mins per day for five days. Worried about which exercises are suitable for you? Don’t fret because we have friendly gym instructors who can guide your way to fitness.
Monol gym is open from 6 am to 12 midnight. Here is the schedule for fitness classes:

Tuesdays and Thursdays
Wrestling       5pm-6pm
Jiujitsu            7pm-8pm

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
Muay Thai      5pm-6pm
Boxing             7pm-8pm

  1. Yoga Yonder

Feeling stressed? Relax, take a deep breath, and release your stress.  Free your mind and be physically active at the same time inside these four corners. Yoga class starts from 7pm to 9pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, but the yoga room is open every day if you wish not to join yoga class. Pilates class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8pm-9pm.

  1. Catch up at the Cafe

Rain or shine, going to a cafe is just a perfect fit for a chit chat and even ‘studying’. Visit the cafe just outside B5, get yourself a warm cup of beverage, and the view overlooking the lush mountains covered with fog and mist will take care of the rest. This cafe is open from 9 am to 7 pm.

On a regular day, students can also enjoy basketball and badminton at the open court. Don’t hesitate to ask for sports equipment from MSD. Enjoy!
